This post is about the stonecutter attitude: I received a gift from a dear friend some decades ago that helped me to keep moving forward. It was a motivational calendar, where on every day there is a string of powerful words to inspire you. For example: May 12 “Man is literally what he thinks”. Or April 23: “The harder you work, the luckier you get”. That was from Gary Player.

But for the past 17 years, this wonderful calendar has been stuck on February 24.

It says this: “When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two and I know that it was not that blow that did it – but all that had gone before”.

Life is all about persistence and perseverance. Trust me, you will encounter challenges and problems in your life. But it is that attitude within your heart that says ‘I will not give in’, that will make you a better person and get you reaching the goals you set out to achieve. Never, ever quit. Move forward always.
